[ATTACK] 14 Syrian Policemen Killed in Ambush by Assad Loyalists.
On Wednesday, 14 members of the new Syrian government’s police force were killed in an ambush in the Tartus countryside, a coastal region in the west of Syria.
The Syrian interior minister, Mohammed Abdul Rahman, posted on Telegram that a further 10 policemen were wounded in the attack. The attack came following the fall of the Assad regime. The new government, primarily led by the rebel group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), sent out forces to crack down on demonstrations being held in the western regions of Syria following the imposition of a curfew. Western Syria has many Assad loyalists due to the large Alawite population living there - the same sect of Islam that Assad was a member of.
