The Anarcho-Communist Combat Organization (BOAK) is a group of far-left activists engaged in anti-war activities against the Russian and Belarusian states. Since the March 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, BOAK has gained attention for attacking recruitment offices, sabotaging railways, and spreading anti-Putin rhetoric. It advocates for the end of capitalism and state rule, aiming to create a decentralized democratic system in its place.
Russia and Eastern Europe have an anarchist current dating back to the mid-19th century; the theorist Mikhail Bakunin is considered one of the movement’s founders. It is this tradition that BOAK embodies today. In this investigative report, our Chief Reporter Michael Archer contacts a BOAK militant to examine the actions, ideology, and plans of the group, with footage sent directly by the interviewee.
