When Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, a wave of volunteers stepped in to fill critical supply gaps and support frontline defenders. In this on-the-ground documentary, our crew follows Olga, a former marine biologist who left her old life behind to deliver vital aid to Ukrainian troops – accompanied only by her loyal sausage dog.
Filmed in Eastern Ukraine, we embedded with Olga to speak to the recipients of her volunteer aid efforts. This is the story of one woman’s weekly missions to keep soldiers equipped, fed, and alive in one of the most dangerous regions of the war. Our team of reporters spoke to drone operators and evacuation teams, all operating on the frontline thanks to the continuous support of ordinary Ukrainians volunteering.
This film is part of our broader goal at Modern Insurgent to tell stories of conflict from the ground up – and doing so in a raw and immersive way.
